Find a Niche

How to Find a niche

Have you ever heard the phrase “the best way to find something is to stop looking for it?” Well that’s probably the best tip anyone could give you on how to find a niche.

The biggest movers and shakers in marketing don’t go out of their way to find some amazing niche, they just use what they know. Granted, they had to learn the hard way that horning in on a supposedly super profitable niche when knowing nothing about it was a mistake, and instead focused on things they could talk about and provide advice for naturally.

That being said, if you’re in a position where you need to find a niche, and don’t want to talk about any of your hobbies because you think there’s no profit in them (I would suggest taking a closer look before deciding that, though), then here are some great places to look to help you find your “golden goose” niche, or at least find a niche that will turn a profit for you.

1. Go to a bookstore or library. Some of the best places for finding a niche idea are at a place filled with information. Visit your local library or any bookstore and browse around. Take note of anything that sparks your interest. The best place to browse is probably the how to section, because people that go there have a need to solve a problem by learning to do something. Example: how to learn a language. You should also check out the magazine section and just flip through a few and check out the ads.

2. Watch television. Specifically commercials. Similar to the magazines tip, commercials are ads that people pay to try and target little niches of people. The greatest niches are probably already being capitalized on somewhere, and you’ve just been missing it because you’re not a rich big wig head of a company. If you want to find a niche that is really good, go directly to the guys who have already capitalized on them with television. Infomercials are also good ones- the do-it-yourself solar panels niche is a really great one that a lot of people make money in.

3. Check out affiliate programs. Just browsing through clickbank, paydot.com or other affiliate networks will give you some great ideas. They already have categories that you can filter buy, and just looking at the products will give you sub niches or micro niches- the niche within a niche. For example, while browsing for information on making money online you’ll come across products in sub niches like “make money online with CPA” or “make money online with Forex”. And further these niches will be “make money online with CPA in Adwords” and “make money online with Forex software” or something similar.

Using the tips above, anyone can find a niche that is profitable, and possible to get into. I hope you find yours!
